We are kicking off our "Dippity Friends" program. 'Dippity Friends' is our plan to bring together Young Adults with Special Needs and our students in order to bring awareness and acceptance of those with cognitive and physical disabilities.
The "Dippity Friends" Program is about creating a learning community that bring early exposure and a comfort level for those that are different. We feel our program won't only be beneficial to our students but give our new friends a means of social interaction with children, as well.
On February 14th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., we are hosting a Valentine's Day party for our students and guests made up of young adults with special needs from the community. We will have a craft, snacks, music and games. Our 'Dippity Friends' will be accompanied by a chaperone to assist in facilitating activities. Our staff will be 100% engaged with our children as they are each day.
To best prepare the children, we will be talking to them about how some friends are different, yet special.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or concerns and we'll be happy to address them.
